localisation_jordan.jpgJordan is located in the Middle East between Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, West Bank and Israel. Jordan also has a coastline of 26 km on the Red Sea with Aqaba as the only harbor of the country. It consists mainly of a dry desert on the east (Arabian Desert) and a mountainous region in the west where the population is concentrated with over 6 million people. Despite a rainy season in the west of the country from November to April, Jordan has a dry and warm climate and is one of the 10 driest countries in the world.

carte_jordanie_big2.jpgWadi Rum is located at the southwest corner of Jordan, 320 km from the capital Amman and 120 km from Petra, and plunges into the Red Sea. It was listed as a mixed cultural and natural world heritage site by UNESCO in June 2011 and covers an area of ​​74,000 hectares. A natural site for its spectacular desert landscape with canyons, natural arches, cliffs and caves.  A historical site by the presence of petroglyphs, inscriptions and archaeological remains that show 12,000 years of human occupation and interaction with the natural environment. The combination of 25 000 petroglyphs and 20 000 inscriptions traces the evolution of human thought and the beginnings of alphabetic writing.
